The Chairman of Karu Local Government Area in Nasarawa State, Barrister Abubakar Aliyu Madaki, has announced his approval of the appointment of 70 aides into his cabinet.
Madaki said the appointment is to support his administration in delivering what he described as “governance dividends” at the grassroots level.
In a statement issued on Friday by his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Hon. Adamu Ladan, Madaki said the appointees include six Senior Special Assistants and 64 Special Assistants.
“These high-level appointment categories for the senior special assistant and special assistant are to carry out policies and deliver governance dividends for good people at the grassroots level,” Ladan stated.
He added that criteria such as competence, contributions to the ruling party, and loyalty to democratic principles were taken into consideration in the selection process.
“We charged them to develop creative and implementable programmes to position the local government as a leading centre for impactful youth initiatives,” Ladan said.
Ladan congratulated the new appointees and urged them to justify the confidence reposed in them by working for the progress of Karu Local Government Area.
Karu Local Government Area shares borders with the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Political appointments at the council level often spark public debate, as local governments are widely regarded as the closest tier of government to the people.
