The Commissioner of Women Affairs and Child Development in Bauchi State, Hajiya Zainab Baban Takko, has been sacked.
Her removal followed Governor Bala Mohammed’s minor reshuffle of the State Executive Council, according to the News Agency of Nigeria.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Sunday by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Governor, Mukhtar Gidado, who described the decision as a minor adjustment to the composition of the State Executive Council.
“In that respect, the Honourable Commissioner for Women Affairs and Child Development, Hajiya Zainab-Baban Takko, has been relieved of her appointment with immediate effect,” the statement said.
No reason was given for Hajiya Takko’s removal.
However, the governor appreciated her contributions to the state and wished her success in her future endeavours.
“The governor thanks the Honourable Commissioner for her services to the State and wishes her success in her future endeavors,” Gidado said.
Takko was sworn in as Commissioner on September 9, 2024, alongside two other newly appointed commissioners.
Before her appointment as commissioner, she served as Caretaker Chairperson of the Bauchi Local Government Area, following her appointment by Governor Mohammed in July 2023.
