Troops of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), have recorded another success in the ongoing Operation Lafiya Nakowa, as they dislodged several bandits’ hideouts in Takum and Ussa LGAs of Taraba State.
The clearance operation, launched on October 5, 2025, followed credible intelligence on bandits’ movements around Tarhembe, Tornyi, TY Farm, and Kando in Tati, Takum LGA, as well as reports of farmland destruction in Ussa LGA.
During the sweep, Team A engaged the criminals in a brief firefight, forcing them to flee. Troops recovered 4 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, one AK-47 magazine, and a motorcycle from the scene.
Meanwhile, Team B cleared suspected camps across several communities in Ussa LGA — including Kutukok, Konkan, Kwesati, and Alaha — destroying hideouts and denying the bandits safe havens.
Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of 6 Brigade, lauded the troops’ bravery and urged locals to continue supporting security forces with credible intelligence.
He reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to protecting lives and property while maintaining pressure on criminal elements across Taraba.
