Yobe State Electoral Commission Chairman, Mamman Mohammed Is Dead

The Chairman of the Yobe State Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC), Dr. Mamman Mohammed, is dead.

The media gathered that Dr. Mohammed died on Monday at the Yobe State University Teaching Hospital, Damaturu, after a brief illness.

According to family sources, the funeral prayer for the late SIEC Chairman is scheduled to hold Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at the Emir of Fika’s Palace in Potiskum town.

The Fika Emirate Council confirmed his death in a statement posted on its official Facebook page on Tuesday morning.

The statement read: “Inna Lillahi wa inna ilaihi Raji’un. The death has occurred of Dr. Mamman Mohammed (Shamakin Fika), Chairman, Yobe State Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC).

“He died at Yobe State Teaching Hospital after an illness.

“May Almighty Allah grant him Aljannah. Amin.”

Until his death, Dr. Mamman Mohammed, who held the traditional title of Shamaki Fika, was responsible for overseeing local government elections in Yobe State.

His death has drawn condolences from political figures, traditional leaders, and colleagues across the state, many of whom described him as a dedicated public servant committed to strengthening democratic institutions at the grassroots level.
