An ex-convict and two others have been arrested by the Police in Lagos for their alleged involvement in a series of robberies in the metropolis.
The 25-year-old ex-convict, Segun Kolawole, was arrested just five days after his release from the Kirikiri Correctional Centre by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos State Police Command.
Others arrested alongside the ex-convict were identified as Sodiq Isa, 27, and Adekanmbi Ganiu, 21.
It was learnt that the suspects were arrested for pickpocketing and various theft-related offences across different parts of Lagos State.
The police have been cracking down on traffic robbery in Lagos, with several arrests made in recent years.
Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, who confirmed the arrest, disclosed that the ex-convict was arrested at about 8am on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at Oshodi Market, after operatives observed his suspicious movement.
Adebisi disclosed that the suspect was found in possession of ₦80,000.00 and an Infinix Note 40 Pro phone, both traced to a burglary he had earlier committed at Opebi, where he allegedly stole ₦200,000 and the mobile device from a sleeping trader.
“Further investigation revealed that he had already used part of the stolen proceeds to purchase new clothes and shoes, which were also recovered from him,” she added.
Similarly, in a separate operation at about 5pm on Friday, October 24, 2025, RRS operatives arrested Sodiq Isa and Adekanmbi Ganiu for attempting to steal mobile phones from unsuspecting commuters in different parts of Lagos.
