Nollywood actress, Regina Daniels, has dared her estranged husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, that she would fight for their children and raise them with or without the politician’s support.

Daniels said this in an emotional video posted on her social media page and seen by SaharaReporters, where she opened up about the turmoil within her family and the backlash surrounding her controversial marriage.

“Hey guys, so I’m here finally in front of a camera trying to explain my family’s problem,” she began. “Look, it is 5AM, I haven’t slept, like, because I can’t.”

According to the actress, her family has been thrown into chaos over her relationship decisions. “Let’s get straight into the video. My family is actually in turmoil. It’s crazy, it’s crazy, but we would definitely come out of it,” she said.

“So what gave me the courage to make this video? It’s just seeing how my family is fighting. Like, everyone is fighting for me — my brothers, my mom, my sisters. Hey, everybody’s fighting. And to think my brother just started hosting a petition, and guys, in less than how many hours, there were a lot of people. Like, a lot of people signed up, like how, why.”

Daniels appeared emotional as she tried to clarify misconceptions about her marriage and defend her family, especially her mother, from public insults.

“But yes, then, I’m a cement walk. That’s what this video means. This video shouldn’t even exist in the first place because I’m too big for it. Okay, I’m gonna fight for my children, Ned. I tried to be calm. I tried to let go, but I’ll fight for them. I’ll take them, I’ll train them, I’ll raise them with or without your support,” she said.

The actress continued: “And you know that, my ex-husband. This feels like I’m acting, but guys, this is me. This is me. If I haven’t slept, by five. I’m not going to cry, you. I don’t use to do that in front of the camera. Okay, this is funny. I like this video. This means I’m tough and I’m not crying.”

Daniels then addressed the public backlash and the harsh criticism targeted at her mother.

“But wait, guys, the main essence of this video actually is to please stop insulting my mom. Hey, stop it. Stop. Please. Look, for some reason I actually do feel like I owe this explanation, you know why? Because I don’t know why everyone is pained about my life, but I don’t feel like you’re all pained from your bad side. You’re pained because you used your—was it 200 Naira or 500 Naira—to buy my CD just to watch my movie as a child, and you’re watching me or like fine, and it’s okay. I’m in the limelight, so it’s fine. You all have a say, so it’s okay. And that’s why I am explaining.”

“So please stop insulting my mom. She is the best thing that ever happened to me. She is my God on earth. She is strong. For seven years, my mum held it down. She warned me and I am so ashamed to say I fell in love. Stop saying I got married out of greed, excuse me, we were not broke. Secondly, what kind of money do you think a man can give to her mother to get her child that is drastically providing in the house,” Daniels added.

Recalling the darkest moment of her life, the actress revealed how far she almost went when her family rejected her relationship with Nwoko.

“She warned me. My brothers warned me. Everybody warned me. Nobody’s going to cry on this camera. Everybody warned me. And then I drove out at night. I was going to kill myself if I don’t marry Ned,” she confessed.

“Everyone was looking for me. My brothers were fighting, breaking bottles. Like, guys, the Nigerian police nurse about to be caught. As I was saying, everyone knew. I went to the police station and said, ‘Arrest me, my family does not want me to marry the love of my life.’ But I actually did fall in love with crazy — but I did — and I still care and respect him. That’s love. What’s love?”

The video has sparked intense reactions online, with many expressing sympathy for the actress while others questioned the family and societal pressures surrounding her marriage to the wealthy politician.
