The Customs Area Controller, Oyo/Osun Area Command, Comptroller Gambo Aliyu, has stated that the command generated N77,880,153,197.62 in revenue from January to October 2025.
This was just as Aliyu disclosed that the command also made seizures with a Duty Paid Value (DPV) of N818,789,310.25 within the period covering June 4, 2025, to October 31, 2025.
Aliyu made the disclosures during a maiden press briefing on Wednesday, held at the command’s headquarters in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
According to Aliyu, the generated revenue represented a 17.5 percent increase when compared to N64,269,394,207.65 collected during the same period from January to October 2024.
“This figure represents a commendable level of commitment by our officers despite prevailing economic challenges. It also demonstrates the Command’s unwavering dedication to achieving and surpassing the monthly set target by the Service,” Aliyu said.
He disclosed that the prohibited items intercepted by the command within the period covering June 4, 2025, to October 31, 2025, included 3,671 (50kg) bags of foreign parboiled rice with a DPV of N380,031,097.50; 10,075 litres (403 kegs of 25 litres each) of Premium Motor Spirit with a DPV of N11,132,875.00; 73 pieces of used compressors with a DPV of N5,673,742.50; 1,054 pieces of used tyres with a DPV of N109,226,020.00; 166 bales and 19 sacks of used clothes with DPVs of N129,019,350.00 and N14,767,275.00, respectively; and 9 sacks of used shoes with a DPV of N8,160,862.50.
Other contrabands included 25 sacks of used bags with a DPV of N22,669,062.50; 79 wraps of Cannabis Sativa with a DPV of N2,687,876.25; various unregistered pharmaceuticals with a DPV of N1,997,524.00; and used vehicles comprising one used Toyota Hilux (N45,338,125.00), one used Mercedes Benz GLE (N45,338,125.00), and two used Toyota Camry cars (N42,747,375.00).
“The total Duty Paid Value (DPV) of these seizures is N818,789,310.25,” Aliyu said.
“In some of the cases where defendants were arrested with respect to the seizures, the defendants have been charged to the Federal High Court where they are being prosecuted in line with the provisions of the Nigeria Customs Service Act 2023,” the Area Command’s Controller said.
He appreciated the Oyo State Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, for his support in ensuring that the Oyo/Osun Area Command achieves its core mandate.
Aliyu also thanked the Comptroller-General of Customs, Dr. Bashir Adeniyi, and his management team for their continued support and guidance.
The Area Command’s Controller lauded the dedication and discipline of the officers and men of the Command for upholding the ethics and core values of the Service. He also recognised the support of critical stakeholders including traditional institutions, sister security agencies, business communities, and the media.
Additionally, Aliyu assured stakeholders and members of the public that the Command would continue to operate within the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and excellence in service delivery.
“We will not relent in our efforts to safeguard the national economy, generate maximum revenue, and protect the society against the menace of smuggling.
“The command remains committed to maintaining open channels of communication to ensure seamless trade facilitation and compliance with Customs regulations,” Aliyu said.
