Fresh details have emerged on the fate of Rev. Fr. Bobbo, the Kaduna Catholic priest earlier rumoured to have been killed by terrorists, as sources close to the family confirm that the abductors are demanding N5million in ransom.
In an update credited to Barrister Street News (BSN), the platform dismissed circulating claims of the priest’s death and provided new information from what it described as direct contacts with the priest’s family and “reliable insiders.”
BSN wrote: “In order to confirm the alleged death of Fr. Bobbo, we made independent contact with his family and reliable insiders for verification.”
According to the channel, the family believes the priest may still be alive.
It stated: “The family indicates he may still be alive. A direct contact confirmed, in confidence, that the terrorists are demanding N5million.”
BSN further revealed that the abductors allowed the priest to speak briefly.
“Rev. Fr. Bobbi reportedly spoke briefly through their phone this morning. The abductors also contacted his elderly father and a fellow Reverend Father, repeating the ransom demand.”
The platform noted that although the information was confidential, it needed to be released “to correct any reports of his death.”
A separate source familiar with the family’s communication also confirmed the development.
The source said: “I have just contacted his family this morning and was told Rev Fr Bobbo spoke through the Bandits phone and they are still demanding for money in the early hours of this morning.”
Recall that suspected terrorists abducted Bobbo Paschal early Monday when armed men stormed the community and forcefully took the priest from his residence.
A priest at the Archdiocese of Kaduna, Christian Emmanuel, confirmed the incident in a statement to reporters on Monday.
According to the statement, a brother of the victim, Anthony Yero, was killed during the raid, while several other residents were abducted and taken to unknown locations.
The attack happened the same day terrorist groups invaded the Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, Danko Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, and kidnapped 25 schoolgirls.
