Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has warned politicians who may be planning to cheat in the 2027 governorship election.
A video trending on social media on Monday shows the governor saying that anyone trying to rig the election “will be met with madness.”
Makinde said the people of Oyo State are now more informed and will not allow anyone to manipulate their votes. He also explained that he is already preparing to leave office and that new leaders will take charge in 2027.
He added that attacking him or turning political issues into fights will not help anyone gain support from voters. According to him, Oyo residents are now wiser and know what they want.
Makinde repeated his warning to those thinking about election malpractice, saying they should drop such plans. He used a popular Yoruba expression, “We will use madness to cure madness,” to stress how firm the response will be.
The governor has said many times that the choice of who becomes the next governor in 2027 belongs to the people of Oyo State, not to political godfathers.
