The High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, has granted interim bail to former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN), in a case involving the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
Malami appeared before the court on Tuesday, where the judge approved his bail application pending further hearing in the matter.
The court also fixed January 5 for the continuation of the case.
The charges against the former AGF are being prosecuted by the EFCC, although full details of the allegations were not disclosed in court.
Malami’s legal team welcomed the court’s decision, describing it as a step towards fair hearing and due process.
The case will resume in the new year as the court continues to hear arguments from both parties.
