Former Niger Delta militant leader, Asari Dokubo, has criticised reports of recent Airstrikes in parts of Sokoto State, describing the operation as ineffective and dangerous to civilians.
Reacting to reports aired on Arise Television, Dokubo said the strikes did not target bandits or terrorists, but instead landed in open fields and near villages, creating craters without recording any casualty among criminal elements.
“It’s so shameful and laughable,” Dokubo said, insisting that no bandit was killed and no militant camp was d+stroyed. According to him, residents in Sokoto openly claimed the devices used were drones, but argued that they failed to neutralise any security thr+at.
He alleged that the explosions endangered innocent lives, stressing that there was “no bandit in the vicinity where the bomb landed.” Dokubo challenged authorities to present evidence showing that even a single terrorist was killed in the operation.
“If you have any other proof of where the b@mb landed and killed one bandit, just one terrorist, I challenge you to come here and show us,” he said.
Dokubo also dismissed suggestions of foreign military dominance in Nigeria’s security operations, stating that the United States could not deploy troops independently into Nigeria. He argued that any foreign involvement would only be through collaboration with Nigerian forces.
“America cannot send troops into a sovereign nation like Nigeria; they can only collaborate with Nigerian troops,” he added.
