The approval was conveyed in an official letter dated January 12, 2026, issued by the Office of the Registrar through the Directorate of Examinations, Admissions and Records.
Northwest University, Kano (NWU) has approved a special admission for the Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Aminu Sanusi, into its Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) Common Law and Shariah degree programme, effective from the 2024/2025 academic session.
The approval was conveyed in an official letter dated January 12, 2026, issued by the Office of the Registrar through the Directorate of Examinations, Admissions and Records.
The letter, signed on behalf of the Registrar by the Head of the Directorate, Jafaru Sule Muhammad, confirmed that the applicant met the university’s requirements for special consideration.
According to the letter, Sanusi has been admitted into the Faculty of Law at Level 200, reflecting a direct entry into the programme rather than the conventional entry level.
“With reference to your application for special admission into this University, I write to convey the University approval of your admission into Northwest University, Kano after satisfying the University requirements for special consideration,” the letter read.
“Accordingly, you have been accepted for admission into LL.B. Common Law and Shariah degree programme in the Faculty of Law, Level 200, with effect from 2024/2025 Academic Session.”
The admission is subject to strict compliance
with the “rules and regulations contained in the Northwest University Student Handbook”.
The university further directed the newly admitted student to complete all necessary registration processes across relevant units, including the ICT Unit, Bursary Department, Faculty/Department, University Library, and Student Affairs Division.
Northwest University, Kano, a state-owned institution, offers programmes in law and other disciplines, with its admissions guided by established academic and administrative regulations.
