Nollywood actress, Halima Abubakar, has raised the alarm over an alleged attempt by her landlord to evict her after she was diagnosed with a brain tumour, saying the situation has worsened her health and financial challenges.
The actress, while appealing for assistance, disclosed that her landlord refused to accept her rent after learning about her medical condition, even though she attempted to make payment from donations raised for her surgery.
“After you stated that I am suffering from brain tumor, the landlord refused to collect my rent. The money people were donating for me, I took part of it to give but the landlord rejected it,” she said.
Abubakar revealed that she had been able to raise N6.2million to fund her brain surgery but was forced to remove part of the money in a bid to pay her rent and avoid eviction.
Despite this, she said the landlord declined to accept the payment, leaving her at risk of losing her home.
“I don’t need any such stress, just because I am in need. Yahaya Bello, VDM, I need your help, they want to make me homeless,” she added.

The actress also lamented that her situation had been complicated by allegations circulating online that she was a scam, a claim she said had discouraged potential donors who wanted to assist her medical treatment.
The film star revealed that she depleted her resources to cover her mother’s N9 million hernia surgery in October last year.
“I need the help of my state governor. I need enough money for my surgery. My spleen needs to be removed. I need accommodation and feeding. I relocated to Abuja to be close to the hospital, Turkish Hospital. I have been on medication for a year now. I need N25 million for my health.”
She said many people who intended to help her were being pushed away by such claims, further worsening her financial condition amid her health battle.
Abubakar’s current ordeal follows years of public controversy.
In 2023, SaharaReporters reported that she alleged she had been pregnant on three occasions for Apostle Johnson Suleman, the General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries International.
She had also claimed that the cleric was involved in sexual relationships with several actresses, including Shan George and Iyabo Ojo.
In 2022, Abubakar publicly called out Suleman on social media, alleging that they once dated. She also stated at the time that her life was in danger and that the cleric should be held responsible if anything happened to her.
“Please don’t worry about me. But you can hold Johnson Suleman responsible, just in case. You can’t do anything, though. Nigerians are aware. If anything happens, Johnson, it’s you,” she had posted on Instagram.
However, in 2024, Abubakar admitted in a statement shared on her Instagram account that her earlier allegations were “false and hurtful”.
As of now, the actress continues to seek public support, saying the threat of eviction has added to the burden of battling a serious medical condition.
