“We’re experiencing network challenges due to fibre cut in some parts of Enugu State and our services may be temporarily unavailable as a result,” MTN said.
The telecoms operator added that its technical team had been deployed to affected areas and was working to restore services as quickly as possible.
“Our engineers are working to restore services as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience and understanding,” the company stated.
Fibre cuts, often caused by road construction, vandalism, or accidental excavation, have remained a recurring challenge for telecom operators across Nigeria, frequently resulting in service disruptions that affect voice calls, data services, and internet access.
MTN did not provide a timeline for full-service restoration or disclose the exact locations affected, but subscribers in Enugu State have reported difficulties making calls and accessing mobile data since the disruption began.
The development comes amid ongoing concerns by telecom operators over the increasing rate of fibre vandalism and infrastructure damage, which they say continues to impact service delivery nationwide.
