Popular socialite and businessman, Pascal Okechukwu, famously known as Cubana Chief Priest, has officially declared his intention to oppose the 2027 presidential ambition of Peter Obi.
This is a significant move for the celebrity barman, who was a vocal supporter of the Labour Party candidate during the 2023 general elections.
The businessman made this revelation during a heated interaction with his followers on Instagram.
The exchange began after fans questioned his recent political alignment and his new role within the “City Boy Movement,” a prominent support group for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
When a follower asked if he was truly planning to work against the former Anambra State Governor in the next election cycle, the socialite did not mince words.
“Yes oh hope say no be crime cuz I worked for obi last election even as special adviser to an APC Governor,” he replied.
The conversation turned sour when critics reminded him of his previous run-ins with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Some users suggested that the same government he is now supporting had arrested him in the past and could do so again.
Dismissing the concerns with his trademark bravado, he claimed that being guest of the anti-graft agency is almost a badge of honor for successful Nigerians. He wrote: “if you never go Efcc for naija you never make am.”
The debate further escalated when the topic of regional development in the South-East was raised. A commenter argued that Peter Obi would have won the previous election if influential figures from the region had shown more unity.
Cubana Chief Priest responded harshly to the suggestion, questioning the impact of such sentiments on actual development in the region.
“Shut up your mouth and go and support who you want to support as you like Biafra reach how many developments you don do for south East,” he fired back.
In a related development, this political shift comes shortly after another major figure in the Cubana circles, Obi Cubana, was officially appointed as the South-East Director of the City Boy Movement.
The appointment, which was presented by the President’s son, Seyi Tinubu, has sparked intense debate across social media regarding the political direction of influential South-East businessmen ahead of the 2027 polls.
