
Egbin Power Plc. Lagos is one of the biggest additions to the electricity industry in Nigeria. Often seen as the biggest single generating power station in Sub-Saharan Africa, it was built to meet the every rising demand for electricity in Lagos and its environs.
Following the nation’s privatization exercise, Sahara, through its power division, Sahara Power Group and sundry affiliations, acquired the 1320 MW installed capacity Egbin Power Plant. We are working towards deploying a minimum of 5,000 MW of electricity generation over the next five years.

Job Title: Facility Operations Officer
Location: Nigeria
Job Summary
- To provide assistance to ensure the day-to-day smooth management and operation through the Egbin facility.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure daily process of maintenance requests from staff and prompt close out of maintenance request.
- Prepare daily maintenance tracking report.
- Responsible for evaluation of all facility based electrical appliances ane equipment.
- Support project team in validating electrical drawings and Maintenance matters.
- Design and maintain all electrical street lights within the facility.
- Carry out routine inspection of electrical installation within the facility ( advance camp, military camps) etc.
- Follow up with service providers for prompt close out of all electrical issues.
- Assist in other areas of the day-to-day operations when required.
Education and Work Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or its equivalent.
- Five (5) – Seven (7) years relevant experience in a similar role.
- Proven experience as a facility maintenance officer or similar position.
- Membership of relevant professional body will be an advantage
Skills and Competencies:
- Ability to read electrical diagrams
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Good analytical or critical thinking skills.
- Exhibit basic proficiency in the use of MS Office tools.
- Communication and influencing skills, in person and in writing.
- Analytical, problem-solving skills and decision-making.

- Coordinate the Implementation of QHSE requirements in all jobs and situations around the plant assets.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide effective leadership to all plant safety officers, ensuring that their duties are properly performed.
- To carry out periodic safety inspection tours of the plant, record findings and follow up with Head QHSE for closure.
- Be involved with employee and contractor induction trainings, toolbox talks, confined space works and general permit requirements for the plant.
- Ensure the implementation of QHSE contractual requirements by all contractors performing jobs around the plant.
- Provide weekly hazard status report of the assets, indicating the extent or effectiveness of closeout actions.
- Develop innovative programs to assist with the propagation of the Egbin QHSE philosophy and pledge.
- Maintain an incident log of all incidents minor or major within the plant and fashion out mitigative measures while following up with action parties for quick closure.
- Be involved in all incident investigations within the plant and maintain a detailed report of all UAUCs.
- Carryout related duties as shall be assigned from time to time by The Head QHSE.
Education and Work Experience
- Prospective candidate must possess B.Engr., BSc or HND in Science or Engineering from a recognized University or Polytechnic.
- Must have at least 7 – 10 years cognate experience.
- Membership of professional bodies like ISPON, IOSH, WSO is an added advantage.
- Certificate courses in other related fields is an added advantage.
- Must have NEBOSH IGC, ISPON level 3 and lead Auditor certification in either of ISO 45001:2018, ISO 14001: 2015 or ISO 9001:2015.
Skills and Competencies:
- Must be a self-starter, great team player with good report presentation skills.
- Ability to work flexibly within a multidisciplinary team.

- Maintain an incident log of all incidents minor or major within the area and fashion out mitigative measures.
- Be involved in all incident investigations involving BGC and report UAUCs arising from this area.
- Be involved with induction trainings, toolbox talks, confined space works and general permit requirements for the area of responsibility
- Carry out related duties as shall be assigned from time to time by The Head QHSE or Plant HSE Lead.
Education and Work Experience
- Prospective candidate must possess B.Engr., B.Sc or HND in Engineering from a recognized University or Polytechnic.
- Membership of professional bodies like ISPON, IOSH, WSO is an added advantage
- Operations and maintenance or other engineering exposure is an added advantage
- Must have between 3 – 5 years cognate experience
- ISPON level 3 and NEBOSH IGC is a must for this role

- Adequately interface with relevant internal and external stakeholders for incident prevention plans and post incident reviews.
- Carryout related duties as shall be assigned from time to time by The Head QHSE.
- Maintain an incident log of all incidents minor or major within the plant and the estate and fashion out mitigative measures while following up with action parties for quick closure.
- Provide enlightenment to all staff on business continuity planning and their responsibilities in accordance with good international practices.
- Provide leadership and direction for the day-to-day programming of the 3rd party firefighters and ensure constant availability of emergency response infrastructure.
Education and Work Experience
- Prospective candidate must possess B.Sc or HND in Science or Engineering from a recognized University or Polytechnic.
- Must have at least 9 – 10 years cognate experience.
- Must have NEBOSH IGC, ISPON level 3 and lead Auditor certification in either of ISO 45001:2018, ISO 14001: 2015 or ISO 9001:2015.
- Must hold certifications in either ISO 22301 or BCLE 1500, BCLE 2000 or any other Business continuity certification
- Membership of professional bodies like ISPON, IOSH or DRI is an added advantage.
