The Nigerian Investigative Journalist, David Hundeyin, has disclosed that Tinubu’s Lawyers have approached three different courts in the US today to delay the release of Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Academic records at the Chicago State University, but all of them declined the request.
Hundeyin also noted that the lawyers begged Atiku Abubakar’s team to shift the disposition tomorrow from 10am to 12noon so as to buy time, but they refused as well.
This development comes as part of an ongoing legal battle between Atiku and Tinubu, with Atiku accusing Tinubu of falsifying his academic qualifications and Tinubu denying the allegations.
The deposition of Atiku tomorrow is expected to be a key moment in the case, as it will give Atiku’s lawyers the opportunity to question Tinubu directly about the allegations.
It is unclear why Tinubu’s lawyers are seeking to delay the deposition, but it is possible that they are trying to buy time to gather evidence or prepare Tinubu for questioning.
However, Atiku’s lawyers’ refusal to shift the deposition time suggests that they are confident in their case and are eager to get the deposition underway.
In a later development, Atiku Abubakar’s lawyers confirmed to have received Bola Tinubu’s academic documents from Chicago State University (CSU), according to reports by investigative journalist, David Hundeyin. The documents are currently being sorted by Atiku’s legal team.
This comes after a US court ordered CSU to release Tinubu’s academic records to Atiku in September 2023. Atiku had requested the documents in order to challenge the authenticity of Tinubu’s certificate presented to Nigeria’s electoral body, INEC, for the 2023.
