Amidst mounting tensions, the Zamfara State House of Assembly is on the edge of impeaching its Speaker, Rt. Hon. Bilyaminu Ismail Moriki, pending unforeseen developments or political interventions.

A decisive majority of over two-thirds of Assembly members, totalling 18 lawmakers, have officially endorsed an impeachment notice.

Security has been significantly bolstered at the Assembly complex in Gusau, with armed police personnel stationed at the entrance gate. These heightened security measures aim to preempt any potential disruptions to law and order.

The Seventh Zamfara State House of Assembly, inaugurated on June 13th, 2023, witnessed the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the majority party.
