Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger also on Tuesday stated that despite most of the elections running smoothly, there were some reported bomb threats to polling places.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) on Tuesday said it is aware of bomb threats to polling locations in several states in United States during the ongoing presidential election in the country.
FBI in a statement on its website asserted that many of the bomb threats appear to originate from Russian email domains, noting that none of the threats have been determined to be credible thus far.
The statement reads, “The FBI is aware of bomb threats to polling locations in several states, many of which appear to originate from Russian email domains. None of the threats have been determined to be credible thus far.
“Election integrity is among the FBI’s highest priorities. We will continue to work closely with our state and local law enforcement partners to respond to any threats to our elections and to protect our communities as Americans exercise their right to vote.
“As always, we urge the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity to state or local law enforcement, or submit tips to the FBI.”

Raffensperger said all the threats were deemed non-credible and authorities were investigating the issue, according to CNN
“We’ve heard some threats that were of Russian origin. I don’t know how to describe that that’s viable – we don’t think they are, but in the interest of public safety, we always check that out, and we’ll just continue to be very responsible when we hear about stuff like that,” Raffensperger said. “We identified the source, and it was from Russia.”
“They’re up to mischief, it seems, and they don’t want us to have a smooth, fair and accurate election,” he added. “Anything that can get us to fight amongst ourselves – they can count that as a victory.”
Raffensperger, a Republican, did not elaborate on how exactly state officials determined the bomb threats came from Russia.
