PDP Convention: Full List of 7 Key Fresh Demands of Wike’s Camp

The camp loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has outlined seven critical demands that must be met to ensure a peaceful and legitimate Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national convention scheduled for November 15-16 in Ibadan, Oyo State. The demands, revealed in a statement by the Daily Trust newspaper, underscore the ongoing tensions within the party as it navigates internal disputes ahead of the crucial gathering.

Below is the list of their demands:

• Conduct of fresh congresses in Ebonyi & Anambra
• Recognition of South-South Congress held in Calabar
• Zoning of party offices in line with zoning committee’s recommendations
• Conduct of new South-East Zonal Congress
• Immediate conduct of LG Congress in Ekiti
• There should be no form of micro-zoning
• North Central should produce National Chairman

The group, which includes key PDP stakeholders such as the National Secretary, Sam Anyanwu, and the National Vice Chairman, South-South, Dan Orbih, insists on the conduct of fresh congresses in Ebonyi and Anambra to address perceived irregularities. They also demand the recognition of the South-South Congress held in Calabar, aligning with a court-recognized outcome, and the immediate conduct of a new South-East Zonal Congress to resolve leadership disputes in the region.

Further demands include the immediate conduct of a Local Government Congress in Ekiti to comply with judicial rulings and a rejection of any form of micro-zoning, emphasizing a broader, equitable approach to party leadership distribution. The camp also calls for the zoning of party offices to align with the zoning committee’s recommendations, with a specific push for the North Central zone to produce the National Chairman, signaling a strategic move to balance regional influence.

The communiqué, issued after a late-night meeting in Abuja, warns that failure to meet these conditions could render the convention invalid, highlighting the group’s commitment to fairness, transparency, and inclusivity.

This development escalates the ongoing rift between Wike’s faction and other party leaders, including Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, who have been advocating for the convention to proceed as planned. As the PDP approaches a defining moment, the pressure mounts on the National Working Committee to address these demands and avert further crisis within the party.
