The police boss revealed that 113 kidnapped victims were rescued during the same period, with many already reunited with their families.
The Enugu State Police Command has announced the arrest of 5,176 suspected criminals, including kidnappers, murderers, armed robbers, and cultists, in a sustained crackdown on crime across the state.
Addressing a press conference on Thursday at the Command Headquarters in Enugu, the Commissioner of Police, Mamam Giwa, revealed that the arrests were made between March 11 and September 11, 2025, through intelligence-led policing, raids on criminal hideouts, and tactical surveillance.
“We have remained relentless in our pursuit of criminals and in ensuring that Enugu State continues to be safe for residents, investors, and visitors,” Giwa stated.
The police boss revealed that 113 kidnapped victims were rescued during the same period, with many already reunited with their families.
“Exhibits recovered included N10 million cash, assorted firearms, live ammunition, and 21 exotic vehicles suspected to have been stolen,” he said.
“We urge members of the public whose vehicles may have been stolen to visit the Command Headquarters with valid proof of ownership for identification and possible recovery,” Giwa added.
The Commissioner praised the support of sister security agencies, community vigilante groups, and law-abiding citizens, stressing that security was a collective responsibility.
He warned criminal elements to repent or face the full weight of the law, assuring residents that the Command would continue to strengthen patrols and intelligence-gathering.
Giwa also urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements or persons to the nearest police formation, promising that all information would be treated with confidentiality.
“The commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to the protection of lives and property is unwavering,” he reiterated.
