
There was a loud bang said to be as a result of an explosion in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital on Tuesday evening.
A loud bang was heard around Agbowo, Sango, Orogun and Bodija areas of the city.
However, the cause of the explosion could not be ascertained at the time of filing this report.
A resident of Orogun told Gistcore media that she heard the deafening sound, saying, “It felt like a tremor that shook the house.”
Another source in the Agbowo area said he heard it was a gas explosion. However, this could not be independently confirmed by Gistcore media.
Efforts to reach the spokesperson for the state police command, Adewale Osifeso and the state fire service to ascertain what happened failed.
Details are still sketchy, but social media have shared videos and pictures of large-scale destruction affecting filling stations, malls, fast food outlets and residential building.

Mark Zacheaus, a resident confirmed the incident, saying the cause was not known.
“It is true but no one can actually comment on the cause of this strange incident.”
In a video uploaded online, a pick-up van with inscription Bodija Patrol Service was seen conveying corpses.
At least three bodies were seen inside the van which waded to a crowded street.
“Jesus! Jesus!” a male voice was heard screaming as people gathered in groups to discuss the incident.
A residential building was said to have caved in at Eleyele part of the ancient city, leaving residents trapped.
